Laura Nyro & Ellen McIlwaine – 7/22/78
On July 22, 1978 Laura Nyro played the Schaefer/Dr.Pepper concert series at Wollman Rink NYC. I took this photo – and sold it to her manager later that year – negative included! It’s a good thing I printed it in my funky Carmine Street bedroom/darkroom, because I didn’t see the photo again until Laura died in 1997. My friend Isi called and said “Jules! They used your Laura picture in the New York Times!”
The opening act that night was Ellen McIlwaine. The photo below is being used in the 2024 documentary, “Goddess of Slide“
